Let's get physical
The folks over at the Chugiak-Eagle River Senior Center will soon be able to resume their exercise regimes when the new treadmill arrives.
According to Monika Dahlberg, the center’s business development and operations director, the old treadmill was officially taken out of service last week.
“It stopped working without notice, making it unsafe to use, much to the dismay of several seniors,” she said.
The center reached out to Mended Hearts, Inc., a national and community-based organization that offers what it calls gifts of hope to heart patients, families and caregivers.
The center has received donations from Mended Hearts, Inc. in the past.
“I was hopeful they would help us with funding,” Dahlberg said.
She emailed Ron Crowl, president of the Anchorage Chapter 290, requesting a donation for the purchase of a new treadmill.
To her surprise, he personally delivered a check a few days later.
“We are truly grateful and humbled by the support,” she sad.
