Marilyn L. Ross, 75
Marilyn L. Ross, 75, passed away at Providence Hospital on March 5, 2014, from a stroke she suffered a few days earlier. Her husband and two daughters were by her side.
Marilyn was born Feb. 8, 1939, in Tulsa, Okla., and graduated from Will Rogers High School in Tulsa in 1957. Soon after graduation she married Dick Wolfe and moved with him to Texas, Ohio, New Jersey and Connecticut. In 1968 she divorced and moved back to Tulsa with her two children. She soon met and began dating Walter Ross, a former classmate. In 1971, she decided to start an adventure. She packed up her two children and with a friend and her three children, drove up the Alcan to Alaska. Fourteen months later Walter decided to visit Marilyn and check out Alaska. He never left. In 1973, Walt and Marilyn moved six miles up Hiland Road and spent the next 41 years there, living, loving, raising a family and enjoying life.
Marilyn was preced in death by her parents, Beryl and Dorothy Larrabbe, of Tulsa.
She is survived by her husband, Walter; son, Charles Wolfe of Portland, Ore.; daughter, Lynn Wolfe of Renton, Wash.; daughter and son-in-law, Adonna nd David Thiesing; grandchildren, Kristin, Tyler, Dylon and Alonna thiesing of Palmer; sister, Marva Larrabee of Columbia, S.C.; and brother and sister-in-law, Gary and Kaye Larrabee of Florida.
A celebration of life will be held in Alaska this summer.
