Walking & Rolling for Hope Community Resources

Thursday, April 24, 2014 - 07:07

As we roll into spring, one of the Sleeping Lady Mountain Lions Club’s causes is Hope Community Resources, Inc.

The Lions have a long history of supporting Hope’s Walk & Roll for Hope, which is scheduled for May 3 at the Delany Park Strip in Anchorage. Club members look forward each year to participating in the Walk. It is a chance for them to reconnect with Hope’s mission and the people who choose their supports. This year is no different; the club will be out in full force to support Hope.

For 45 years, the Walk & Roll for Hope has helped individuals who experience intellectual and developmental disability achieve their dreams. All of the money participants raise stays in Alaska assisting Hope in ensuring they have the means to provide for people’s health and welfare, keep families together, delivery quality services, and maintain accessible, safe homes for the people who choose their support.

Each year, thousands join forces to make Alaska a better place to live for people who experience a disability. Each of Hope’s nine regions hosts a Walk & Roll for Hope either with a physical, or virtual (online only) event.

Check out the regions listed below to find the community you would like to support. The money raised through each event stays in that region to support local unfunded needs for those who choose Hope’s services.

Anchorage, May 3, Delaney Park Strip Anchorage, 9 a.m.; Kenai Peninsula May 3, Hope Community Resources Rec. Center, 11:30 a.m.; Kodiak, May 3, Saint Paul Lutheran Church, 11 a.m.; and virtual at Mat-Su Valley, Dillingham, Ketchikan, North Slope Borough, Ketchikan Region - May 3, 2013

The Walk & Roll for Hope is free to register; there is a suggested donation of $25 per person and $100 per family, which would start your fundraising effort off immediately, or the donation can be through sponsorships from friends and family members. Raise $75 and you will receive a free 2013 Official 45th Annual Walk & Roll for Hope t-shirt.
