Congratulations to Chugiak-Eagle River students honored by the Alaska Chapter of the American Association of Teachers of German at the eighth annual German Studies Awards Ceremony and Reception April 15.

The event recognizes Alaska students who have excelled in German studies.


Outstanding High School German Students of the Year

Amalia Morse, Chugiak High School

Hannah Gershel, Eagle River High School

The event also honored high school students who scored competitively on the National German Exams for High School Students. Approximately 24,000 students took the test this year. Those scoring in the 90th percentile nationwide received gold awards, those in the 80th percentiles received silver and those scoring in the 70th percentile were awarded bronze.


Gold Awards

Dane Breitung, Steven Hobbs and Aileen Page, from Chugiak High School, and Hannah Gershel, Michael Prado, Anna Sorvoja, Sierra Spiller and Ciera Stafford, from Eagle River High School.


Silver Awards

Jordan Ricker, Sarah Boelter and Taylor Holshouser from Eagle River High Schol, and Jonathan Banovetz, Andrew Noble, Brendan Spees and Thane Perish from Chugiak High School.


Bronze Awards

Grace Foster, Brooks Klehr, Harrison Houston, Ronald Wagoner, Gannon Don, Isabel LaRue, Ashleigh Bransky, Taylor Tuttle and David Wedyke, from Chugiak High School. And Hayden Riebe, Maria Soshnin, Dylan Denter, Daniel McLain, Nicholas Roth and Daniel Prior, from Eagle River High School.
