Public use cabins increase fees
Campers will soon have to shell out a bit more money for an Alaska State Park public use cabin.
Beginning May 15, the fee for reserved use of state park public use cabins will increase from $5 to $10 a night, depending on location and demand.
According to the Alaska Department of Natural Resources, the fees for reserved use of state park cabins have not changed since 2005. During that time, park operational costs have increased over 20 percent.
Reservations for state park cabins made prior to May 15 will not be affected by this fee increase.
