Eagle River Football Field under construction
For those living in Eagle Pointe, perhaps you can hear the heavy equipment moving upon the Eagle River High grounds – perhaps not.
But the evidence of such work is becoming readily apparent with the laying in of the substructure and now, metal supports for the new home field bleachers on the West side, facing the high school.
Fifth-year Eagle River High principal Marty Lang said everything is coming together as anticipated for the proclaimed September 20 homecoming game as the Wolves host the Bartlett Golden Bears.
And while Rome wasn’t built in a day, Lang noted the huge progression in the project earlier this week as the “million and one pieces” were started in the assemblage process.
All told the new bleachers will run along 270 feet of the track, with 10 rows. The seating capacity is tabbed at 1,100 fans, said Lang. That along with the existing “visitors side” value of 400-plus fans, provides an expansive venue for football, flag football, soccer and track. Speaking of, the sand pit for both long and triple jump events is also being extended, said the principal.
Atop the home bleacher will be a press box, with five rooms totaling more than 300 square foot, for the announcer, home and visiting coaches boxes and two media boxes.
Lang was proud to announce the addition of a concession plaza to be placed at the north end of the field, closest to the parking lot. The 240-square foot structure will provide the preparation and sale of numerous items at athletic events.
The booster club will be selling bricks that will adjoin the path between the ticket booth and concession plaza, with the school utilizing their in-house laser engraver to inscribe the names of alumni, local businesses and others interested in supporting the team.
Those interested are encouraged to contract the school’s activities office, at 742-2700.
