Police Blotter July 17 - 22
DUI— An officer started to follow a vehicle on the Glenn Highway for speed enforcement. The vehicle was going more than 80 mph when the officer finally pulled the driver over at the Peters Creek exit in Chugiak. Police arrested Leslie Faglie, 29, of Wasilla on suspicion of driving under the influence.
DUI— An officer noticed a vehicle travelling inbound on Glenn Highway, swerving and not being able to maintain consistent speed or stay in a lane. The officer had another person in the back of the squad car and waited for another officer to arrive and pull the car over. Zaya Arthur-Gunton, 22, of Anchorage, was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.
Theft— A caller from the Microtel Inn reported multiple items stolen out of a truck and trailer parked in the parking lot.
Theft— Unknown suspects stole two benches from Wake Up and Smell the Coffee shop in Eagle River.
Theft— A caller from the Brown Jug in Eagle River reported that a bicycle was stolen from the front of the store.
Burglary—Unknown suspect took items from a storage unit in Chugiak.
Accident/DUI—A caller reporter a driver swerving off the road near Mirror Lake. When police arrived the vehicle was on its side. Neil Massey, 37, of Wichita, Kansas was arrested on suspicion of being under the influence.
Theft—Unknown suspects took keys from a locker at Chugiak High School and then an iPhone was stolen from a vehicle parked in the parking lot.
DUI— Callers told police a driver was in the wrong lanes, but ended up pulling into the parking lot of Fred Meyer in Eagle River. EdenMarie Elliott, 40, of Eagle River was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.
Burglary—A caller reported unknown items taken from a motorhome parked at a house in the 17100 block of Baronoff. The report was taken over the phone.
Accident— Police responded to an accident at Eagle River and Fire House in Eagle River. According to the repot, it was a single vehicle accident against a guardrail. No injuries were reported.
DUI—Police received a call regarding a vehicle that was weaving in and out of lanes and speeding on Glenn Highway near Lake Hill in Chugiak, inbound. Officers caught up with the vehicle in Anchorage at Providence and Spirit. Courtney Chavez, 30, of Wasilla was arrested on suspicion of being under the influence.
Burglary— A caller reported that unknown suspects broke into a home in the 11900 block of Regency in Eagle River. The back door was busted though and unknown items stolen.
Fraud— Police took a report over the phone. The caller said a property manager was stealing several thousand dollars from renters in the 16500 block of Centerfield in Eagle River, and using the money for his own benefit.
Accident—Two vehicles were involved in a head-on collision near Walgreens in Eagle River. According to the report, victims involved did go to the hospital, but no critical injuries were reported.
Accident—An accident was reported at Farm and Old Glenn Highway. Airbags of the vehicle had deployed, but the driver refused medical treatment.
