Legislators hope to hear from constituents before session
The Chugiak-Eagle River legislative delegation will host a town hall meeting Tuesday, Jan. 10 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Eagle River Town Center (12001 Business Boulevard) Room 170 in downtown Eagle River.
On hand to hear constituents’ concerns will be Sen. Anna MacKinnon, senator-elect Shelley Hughes and representatives Dan Saddler, Cathy Tilton and Lora Reinbold.
“We look forward to seeing you there and hearing what issues you are most concerned about and what you would like to see us accomplish while we are in Juneau working for you,” the all-Republican delegation wrote in a press release announcing the meeting distributed by the Chugiak-Eagle River Chamber of Commerce.
The three local House members will serve in that body's minority after Democrats and several Republicans and Independents formed a bipartisan coalition in November. The two local senators will be in the majority there, where MacKinnon will serve as co-chair of the Senate Finance Committee with Bethel Democrat Lyman Hoffman and Hughes will chair the Senate Education Committee.
The 30th Legislature begins Jan. 17 in Juneau.
