POLICE BRIEFS: Eagle River man hit with 2 DUI arrests in same night

On March 8 at around 10:23 p.m., police received a report from someone who said a driver had pulled into the Century 16 theaters, hit a snowbank and was pouring gas all over his Subaru in an attempt to refuel. Officers who responded arrested the driver, Matthew C. Bailey, 23, of Eagle River for operating under the influence. Bailey was taken to the Anchorage Jail and released on his own recognizance, according to police. At around 3:14 a.m., police received a call that a vehicle was stopped in the slow lane of the Glenn Highway near Artillery Road with its hazard lights on. Officers arrived and found Bailey was driving the Subaru. Police said he still showed signs of intoxication and was also in posession of a firearm. Bailey was arrested for operating under the influence and being drunk in posession of a firearm. He was remanded to Anchorage Jail.
On March 11 at aound 2:56 a.m., an officer stopped a vehicle on the Old Glenn Highway for driving with a headlight out and arrested the driver, Joshua J. Daly, 29, of Anchorage for operating under the influence.
On March 12 at around 1:23 a.m., an officer approached a vehicle in a parking lot on Denaina Elders Road that had its engine running and headlights on. The officer found the driver, Mitchell A. Rissew, 23, of Palmer asleep in the driver’s seat and arrested him for operating under the influence.
On March 12 at around 4 a.m., an off-duty officer called police dispatch to report a reckless driver on the Glenn Highway. While on the phone with dispatch, the officer allegedly witnessed the vehicle crash on the Eagle River Bridge. On-duty officers arrived and contacted driver Rick J. Peshel, 24, of Palmer. Peshel allegedly had a handgun in the driver’s side door pocket and did not inform police until specifically asked about weapons. He was arrested for operating under the influence, being drunk in posession of a firearm and posession of a concealed deadly weapon without informing officers.
On March 12 at around 6:07 p.m., an Alaska State Trooper stopped a vehicle on Birchwood Loop and stated the driver was intoxicated. Anchorage police arrived and arrested Brian D. Rogers, 62, of Chugiak for operating under the influence.
On March 9 at around 12:57 p.m., officers responded to Hiland Correctional Center and served a warrant on inmate Alisa Lane, 19, of Juneau.
On March 11 at around 12:43 a.m., police pulled over a vehilce on Farm Street for a missing license plate and arrested driver Stephanie S. Dickinson, 40, of Anchorage on an outstanding warrant.
On March 10 at around 2:38 ap.m., medication was found stolen from a home on Barbara Street. The case is under investigation.
On March 10 at around 3:05 p.m., police took a report that a dark blue 2002 Volkswagen Jetta was stolen while unlocked, unoccupied and running outside a business on the Old Glenn Highway. The next day, police took a report of a suspicious vehicle parked in a driveway and found the Jetta. It was impounded until the owner could retrieve it.
On March 13 at around 1:50 a.m., an officer was passed on the Glenn Highway by a dark gray Nissan Pathfinder that was driving 88 MPH with a headlight out. The officer caught the Pathfinder and activated emergency lights, but the vehicle turned onto Hiland Road and accelerated at a high rate of speed. The officer ended the pursuit due to high speeds.
