Southside tennis teams top Chugiak, Eagle River

Prep tennis teams from South Anchorage swept their northernmost rivals on Thursday, Sept. 14.

Dimond defeated Chugiak 6-3 at the Chugiak courts. The Mustangs got wins from Emilee Groth in girls singles and swept the girls doubles matches, with Becky LaRue/Tyanna Melak winning in a third-set tiebreaker and Madelyn Bistodeau/Megan Anshutz cruising 6-1, 6-0.

At the Alaska Club East, South High won eight contested matches and a forfeit in its 9-0 win over the Wolves.

Teams will play conference tournament matches on Saturday, Sept. 23 beginning at 9 a.m. at the Alaska Club East. The Region IV tournament begins Sept. 27, also at the Alaska Club East.
