Chugiak’s hopes of a repeat Cook Inlet Conference flag football title were washed away on Thursday, Oct. 12 at a soggy Dimond Alumni Field.

The host Lynx (14-2) got touchdowns from Victoria Johansen, Megan Luther and Desjorney Tanuvasa to earn a berth in the CIC title game. Chugiak finished 9-7.

The game was close until late. No. 2 seed Dimond led 7-0 heading into the fourth quarter, and twice No. 3 seed Chugiak had chances inside the Dimond 10-yard-line.

But the Lynx defense held strong, with two interceptions by Angelline Nageak helping to seal Chugiak’s fate. Dimond added a pair of fourth-quarter scores, including one right before the final whistle.

Dimond will play in Saturday’s CIC championship against undefeated No. 1 seed West (16-0), which defeated East 28-0 on Thursday.
