The Federal Bureau of Investigation is looking for a 44-year-old Chugiak man named Joshua Evans, according to an online Nixle alert issued Thursday evening by the Anchorage Police Department.

APD released two photos of Evans and said anyone who knows where he is should call (907) 276-4441. Both APD and the FBI said on Friday they had no other information to release about Evans or why he’s wanted.

The department did not immediately provide details about why Evans was being sought. However, according to a KTUU-TV report from October 2016, Evans was a convicted sex offender who was facing federal charges of possessing child pornography. The story said Evans had agreed to a plea deal in the case and was facing 10 to 20 years in prison.

According to online court documents, Evans was convicted in 2001 on state charges of first-degree attempted sexual abuse of a minor.

He’s registered in the state’s sex offender/child kidnapper database as living at 15815 Old Glenn Highway #8, which is located near the intersection of the Old Glenn and South Birchwood Loop in Chugiak. Evans last updated his address in May of 2016. According to the database, Evans is 6-feet-2 and weighs 260 pounds.

This is a developing story that will be updated as new information becomes available.
