C/ER girls hockey team falls to 0-2 in tournament play
Chugiak/Eagle River fell to 0-2 in the Anchorage Hockey Association’s girls hockey tournament with a 5-0 shutout at the hands of South/Bartlett on Wednesday at the Dempsey-Anderson rink.
Carter Nelson made 27 saves for South/Bartlett, which improved to 2-0 in the tournament and cliched a spot in Saturday’s championship game.
Morgan Richards stopped 26 shots for Chugiak/Eagle River, which faces Service/East in the third round of the tournament Friday at 6 p.m. at Dempsey-Anderson.
The tournament concludes Saturday at Ben Boeke with a third place game at 2:15 p.m. and the championship at 4 p.m.
Dimond/West 8, Chugiak/Eagle River 2
Dimond/West got two goals each from Hannah Gross, Janessa Reimers and Kaddies Hanson in an 8-2 win in the opening round of the tournament Monday.
McKinley Gray made 21 saves for Chugiak/Eagle River, which got first- and third-period goals from Briana Paxson.
