Wolves shine at Service quad meet

Eagle River had two double winners during a four-team meet Friday with Service, Dimond and Bartlett at Service High.

Emily Walsh won the 800 and 1,600 for the second-place Eagle River girls, who also got a win from Morgan Bolin in the 100 hurdles. Bolin also finished second in the 100 meter dash and the 300 hurdles. Thrower Avery Brown was second in the shot and discus to Dimond’s Alissa Pili, while Claire Nelson took second in the 3,200 and third in the 400.

The Dimond boys and girls swept the team titles.

Carter Gladwill also picked up a pair of individual wins for the Eagle River boys, winning the 400 and 800 for the fourth-place Wolves. Michael Olson also claimed victory in the 3,200, one day before winning the FOCUS 5K race in downtown Eagle River. Dylan Bender took second in the long jump for the Wolves, whose athletes finished second through sixth in the event.

Chugiak and Eagle River will compete in the two-day Anchorage Invitational Friday and Saturday at Dimond High. Events start at 9 a.m. Friday and at 11 a.m. on Saturday.
