Man says he was robbed of handgun at gunpoint in Eagle River

On May 11, at around 2 a.m., a man reported to police that he was walking home when he was robbed of his gun by several people behind a business in Eagle River. Police said the man told them the suspects got out of a vehicle, stole his handgun at gunpoint and drove away. Police said the man was unable to provide any type of suspect information beyond saying the vehicle was an SUV.

Trio arrested after vehicle stolen

On May 6 at around 2 a.m. a vehicle was reported stolen in Eagle River. About an hour later, police said an Alaska State Trooper found the vehicle disabled on the side of the roadway. Officers from the Anchorage Police Department arrived and arrested Everett C. McCormick, 18, of Eagle River, on charges of second-degree burglary, fourth-degree theft, fourth-degree criminal mischief, first-degree vehicle theft and second-degree theft.

Two other men were also arrested, including Christopher I. Escobar, 21, of Anchorage and Dylan D. Capjohn, 20, of Kodiak. Escobar was charged with fifth-degree criminal mischief and violating conditions of release; Capjohn was charged with second-degree burglary, fifth-degree criminal mischief, fourth-degree theft and fourth-degree criminal mischief.

Two arrested after traffic stop

On May 6 at around 5:14 a.m. an APD officer stopped a black Toyota Tacoma which allegedly was driving with a license plate that belonged to a different vehicle. Police said they detained three occupants of the vehicle and during a pat-down search of one of them, Keadron D. Walker, 45, of Eagle River, “baggies of meth fell out of his clothing.”

Police said Walker was arrested and charged with fourth-degree misconduct involving a controlled substance. A second person in the vehicle, Sarah M. Severson, 25, of Anchorage, was arrested on an outstanding warrant and additionally charged with providing false information. The third person was not charged with any crimes.

Vehicle stolen in Eagle River, found in Chugiak

On May 6, at around 11:30 a.m. police received a report that a brown 2015 Chevy Silverado with a spare key inside was stolen from outside a residence on Grand Canyon Loop in Eagle River. On May 8, a woman called police to report a pickup was abandoned at the end of her driveway. Officers responded and found the vehicle — which had its license plates removed — was the same Silverado that was stolen in Eagle River.

Man arrested for assault

On May 7, at around 2:37 a.m., police arrested Lepharoh J. J. Merriouns, 20, of Chugiak, on an assault charge after he allegedly injured his girlfriend, who police said had visible injuries on her face.

Burglaries reported

On May 10, at around 8:28 a.m., police received a report that a storage unit at Eagle River Self Storage had been burglarized and several items were stolen from inside. Police said the burglar(s) appeared to have gotten in through a gap between the ceiling and door frame of the unit.

On May 10, at around 5:17 p.m., police received a report that someone had kicked in the rear door of a home on Ezi View Circle and stole several items while the homeowners were away.

ATV stolen

On May 11, at around 9 p.m. police received a report that a 2014 red and black Arctic Cat Wildcat X off-road vehicle had been stolen while it was parked on a trailer outside a residence. Police said the keys to the snowmachine were inside the vehicle floorboard.
