Driver safety course planned May 5
Five local teens were injured when this Ford Escort left Aurora Borealis Drive near North Birchwood Loop last fall. On May 5, the Arctic Alaska Region of the Sports Car Club of America will sponsor a one-day “Street Survival” course at Alaska Raceway Park in the Butte.

The Arctic Alaska Region of the Sports Car Club of America will sponsor a TireRack.com “Street Survival” school on Saturday, May 5 at Alaska Raceway Park in the Butte.
Open to participants ages 15 to 21, the school costs $75 per student and includes lunch, a t-shirt and certificate of completion. Participants must bring a photocopy of their driver’s license, proof of insurance and a signed Minor Waiver form if under 18. Waiver forms can be downloaded at www.streetsurvival.org.
The class runs from 8:30 a.m. until 4 p.m. and includes hands-on and classroom instruction from trained instructors. It also features challenging driving situations, including skid pad and slalom exercises designed to let students experience challenging driving conditions in a controlled environment.
