Three Anchorage residents were indicted on April 9 for their role in the April 1, 2014 death of a 15-year-old Anchorage resident Precious Alex. All three defendants were charged as principles and/or accomplices to the homicide. The indictments were returned following an investigation by the Anchorage Police Department homicide unit.

Jamal Kareem Townsend, 24, and 29 year old Lammar David Burney, 29, were each indicted on seven counts for their conduct on April 1.

The charges include one count of murder in the first degree, two counts of murder in the second degree, one count of attempted murder in the first degree, one count of assault in the second degree, one count of misconduct involving a weapon in the second degree (discharging a firearm at a dwelling), and one count of misconduct involving a weapon in the third degree (possessing a firearm after having been convicted of a felony).

Additionally, Townsend was indicted for one count of misconduct involving a weapon in the first degree (discharging a firearm from a propelled vehicle) for conduct that allegedly occurred on March 21, 2014 at the same Mountain View residence where Precious Alex and Dominik Spivey were shot on April 1, 2014.

Karlie West, 21, was indicted for murder in the second degree, misconduct involving a weapon in the second degree, and assault in the third degree.

The indictment is only a charge and is not evidence of guilt.

The defendants face a sentence of up to 99 years in prison if convicted of the murder charges.
