Hometown rivals Chugiak Mustangs faced off against Eagle River Wolves at the Eagle River High School gym Feb. 20. A large crowd turned out to cheer both teams. First up, the Mustang girls out-shot the Wolves 56-36.

It appeared to be over. With less than a minute and a half left in the Alaska School Activities Association First National Cup semi-final state championship game at the Menard Sports Complex in Wasilla, the Soldotna Stars led the Chugiak Mustangs 1-0.

Bookout shines at Lady Lynx Prep Shootout

Chugiak fell 56-50 in the third-place game of the Lady Lynx Prep Shootout on Saturday, Feb. 8 at Dimond. Brandy Bookout led the Mustangs with 14 points and reached double digits for the fourth straight game. Nicole Pinckney (13 points) and Ashlynn Burgess (11) also reached double figures for Chugiak.
