Sammy Burke (200 IM, 100 free) and Emmie Jennings (100 fly, 100 back) won two individual events apiece and swam a leg of two winning relays in Chugiak’s 112-71 loss to South on Friday, Oct. 18 at Bartlett’s pool.

Chugiak and Eagle River split a dual swimming and diving meet Friday, Oct. 11 at Bartlett’s pool. Sammy Burke (200 free, 100 back) and Emmie Jennings (50 free, 100 breast) won two individual events apiece to help Chugiak’s girls edge Eagle River 96-89.

Both Chugiak and Eagle River’s flag football seasons ended in the first round of the Cook Inlet Conference tournament Monday, Oct. 14. Home-field advantage didn’t help the Mustangs, as fourth-seeded West earned a 20-6 win over No. 5 Chugiak at Tom Huffer Sr. Stadium.

Chugiak volleyball finishes in top 7 at Spiketacular

Chugiak went 10-2 in pool play to earn a spot in the Gold Bracket at the West Spiketacular volleyball tournament Friday and Saturday, Sept. 27-28. After pool play, the top seven out of the 21 teams advanced to the Gold Bracket, the next seven advanced to Silver and the remaining seven advanced to Bronze.

During his middle school cross country running career, Ty Jordan saved his best performance for the final race of the season at Kincaid Park. That trend has followed him to high school. The Chugiak sophomore shaved more than 20 seconds off his previous best Kincaid time to win the boys race at the Cook Inlet Conference Championships on Saturday, Sept. 28.
