Former Chugiak High boys basketball standout Colby Mitchell will be coming home. Mitchell, a 6-foot-7, 220-pound forward, recently signed a National Letter of Intent to play hoops at Division II Western Washington University, which makes at least two trips a season to Alaska as part of the Great Northwest Athletic Conference.

Chugiak girls get big bowling win

Chugiak’s girls bowling team remained in first place in the Anchorage Scholastic Bowling League standings after getting a 22-13 win over Dimond on Dec. 6 at Jewel Lake Bowl. Chugiak’s boys team didn’t fare as well against the Lynx, falling from first to third in the standings after a 35-0 loss. Eagle River’s boys dropped one spot in the league to fifth with a 27-8 loss to West, while the Wolves’ girl moved up one notch to fourth with a 27-8 victory.
