Trevor Woodhouse, of Eagle River, has been awarded a $2,500 National Merit Scholarship. Woodhouse, a senior at Anchorage Christian Schools, was one of 2,500 Merit Scholars chosen from 15,000 finalists for the awards. Woodhouse plans to study engineering in college.
Jessi McMullen, of Chugiak High, and Cierra Steinke, of Eagle River High, have been awarded the Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange Scholarship, which will allow them to live and study at a high school in Germany next year. The exchange organization, jointly funded by the United States Congress and the German Bundestag, awards scholarships to students from the United States to study in Germany.

Zane and Robin Painter Treesh of Eagle River will celebrate their 10th wedding anniversary on May 14. They were married May 14, 2002 at Bethel Baptist Church of Smileyville. Missouri. Rev. James Croft officiated. Attendants were James Treesh, father of the groom, and Berkley Painter, sister of the bride. Parents of the couple are James and Linda Treesh of Wasilla and Robert and Donna Painter of Emden, Missouri.
