An Eagle River man and his two sons were rescued from Crow Pass Trail in the early morning hours of April 13. According to an Alaska State Troopers dispatch, Kathern Janes called Alaska State Troopers around 6:02 p.m. April 12 to report that her husband and two sons were overdue arriving at their arranged Girdwood pick-up point.
The big topic at the March 26 Birchwood Community Council was Eklutna, Inc.’s presentation. Or more pointedly, their lack of presentation. According to council co-chair Jill F. Crosby, Eklutna, Inc. emailed in a cancelation to their presentation the day before the meeting, stating that they were in the process of requesting a postponement of their Anchorage Assembly hearing date on the master plan rezone until August or September.
In a strange turn of events, missing Eagle River man Samuel Ephram McAlpine, 37 was found dead in his home on Meadow Creek Drive on March 31. His body was discovered in a storage area beneath a stairwell. Tenants had been renting the house for the past year.
