Several new principal assignments for the 2014-15 school year were recently approved by the administration and Anchorage School Board. Chester Valley Elementary School – Adrianne Grenier, former assistant principal at Fairview and Sand Lake elementary schools.

Make that GRAMMY nomination number two for Homestead Elementary School’s long-time music teacher and popular local area folk singer/guitarist Robin Hopper. She’s in the same spot she was this time last year: one of the quarter finalists in the GRAMMY In The Schools Music Educator Award competition, jointly sponsored by The Recording Academy and the GRAMMY Foundation.

It was an impressive evening, filled with calculus puns, military humor and a lot of hardworking individuals ready to embark on a new chapter of their lives. The Eagle River 2014 Senior Awards Ceremony honored students with medals, scholarships and college intent letters.

District proposes increase in student activity fees

The Anchorage School District administration is recommending an approximate 10 percent increase in middle and high school activity fees, beginning next school year. The Anchorage School Board will hear public testimony and vote on the recommendation at its April 21 meeting.
