Anchorage Police found the body of a missing Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson airman the evening of Tuesday, Dec. 10 at the Basher trailhead in East Anchorage.
Nearly a month after being reported missing, Eagle River’s Stephen Gingrich, 58, was found dead at his Hiland Road home Thursday, Dec. 12. A relative of Gingrich found his body buried under a concrete slab in the crawlspace area beneath the home, Anchorage Police said in a press release.
Anchorage Police are asking the public to help locate a 22-year-old Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson airman. Tanner Volkers was reported missing Sunday, Dec. 8, according to a press release. He was last seen at his East Anchorage residence the evening of Saturday, Dec. 7, APD said, and that he had taken some of his belongings and left on his own.
The Anchorage Police Department is reminding all citizens to lock their cars and remove valuables to prevent vehicle thefts. The initiative, “Lock, Remove, Conceal, So Thieves Don’t Steal,” is in response to a 40 percent increase in vehicle thefts from January to October 2013 compared to the same period last year, APD said in a press release.
Anchorage Police are seeking help from the public as they conduct an investigation into the death of an Eagle River man. Andrew Conn, 32, was found dead as his home on the 20600 block of Mountain Vista Drive on Saturday, Dec. 7, according to a press release. APD responded to a report of a deceased male just after 5 p.m.
