The Alaska Mountain Runners recently held their end-of-the-season banquet, and six local runners received age group awards. Two also earned the much coveted “The Gamut” status.

Chugiak swimmers sweep West and Service

Both local high school swimming and diving teams took part in three-way meets this past week with Chugiak squads besting both West and host Service, while Eagle River finished second at Dimond on Aug. 29.

Chugiak bests Bartlett in 3K dual meet

Chugiak High freshman Brynn Kruchoski led the girls field in Friday afternoon’s dual 3K cross-country running meet held at the Beach Lake Ski Trails. Kruchoski’s time of 12 minutes, 31 seconds beat runner-up Sara Hartke, a Chugiak junior, by 5 seconds. Third place went to Chugiak’s Hannah Booher, also a junior.

It was a cloudy Saturday afternoon and the Chugiak High School flag football team was furiously running across the field, fighting to score against the more dominant South team.

Eagle River boys and Chugiak girls make a big splash

While team scores were not posted following the Cook Inlet Conference’s season opener, the Big 8 Swimming and Diving meet, held last Saturday, no doubt area-wide coaches were keeping close tabulations of this year’s up-and-coming talent.
