Hazel Brogdon, of Chugiak, was among more than 300 students to receive diplomas during Marietta College’s 175th graduation ceremony on May 13 at the Dyson Baudo Recreation Center in Marietta, Ohio. Brogdon received her Bachelor of Science degree in biochemistry with Cum Laude honors.
Emily DeGroot, of Eagle River, received her Master’s of Science in counseling psychology from Alaska Pacific University on April 28, 2012. She is the daughter of Robert and Joyce DeGroot of Eagle River.
Daniel Pace, of Eagle River, has received his law degree from Drake University Law School in Des Moines, Iowa. Pace is the son of Roy Pace and Diane Land.
Trevor Woodhouse, of Eagle River, has been awarded a $2,500 National Merit Scholarship. Woodhouse, a senior at Anchorage Christian Schools, was one of 2,500 Merit Scholars chosen from 15,000 finalists for the awards. Woodhouse plans to study engineering in college.
Jessi McMullen, of Chugiak High, and Cierra Steinke, of Eagle River High, have been awarded the Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange Scholarship, which will allow them to live and study at a high school in Germany next year. The exchange organization, jointly funded by the United States Congress and the German Bundestag, awards scholarships to students from the United States to study in Germany.
Air National Guard Airman Jordon D. Thompson, of Eagle River, graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.
