A 20-year-old man from Chugiak told Anchorage police that three men assaulted him in the Fred Meyer parking lot just before 7 p.m. on Feb. 11. The man said he was walking to his car when he heard someone behind him, police spokeswoman Dani Myren said. Two men pinned him and a third man started punching him in the face, Myren said. The victim couldn’t identify his attackers and said he didn’t know why they assaulted him, she said. He refused medical treatment.

A 21-year-old man brandished a handgun at two other young men parked at Schroeder Park on Jan. 31, police spokeswoman Dani Myren said. The gun came out after one of the parked young men — who were 17 and 20 years old — displayed some marijuana, Myren said. They handed over the marijuana to the 21-year-old, who drove off. The younger men then flagged down an off-duty officer around noon.

A 14-year-old male was taken to McLoughlin Youth Center after setting an outdoor playhouse on the 17,000 block of South Juanita Loop Road afire on Jan. 27, Anchorage police said. The fire was reported just after 2 a.m.

Anchorage police said they arrested a 34-year-old Chugiak woman on charges of assault, child abuse and family violence after she struck a 6-year-old boy on the head with a blunt object. The assault was reported to a teacher who reported the assault to police on Jan. 22, spokeswoman Dani Myren said.

A family on River Heights Loop in Eagle River told Anchorage police on Jan. 11 that a relative stole firearms and jewelry from their home. Police obtained an arrest warrant for Mallory McClure, 28, on charges of second-degree theft, police spokeswoman Dani Myren said.
