Want to learn how to write a riddle? Just ask Mike Thaler. Known as “America’s Riddle King,” Thaler recently shared his process with Eagle River Elementary students. The notable author of more than 200 children’s books spent April 17 at the school, putting on two assemblies, signing books and visiting classrooms.
Eagle River High School students were treated to a grisly scene behind the school Wednesday, April 24. As they filed out of the school, students witnessed what appeared to be a two-car collision with several severe injuries. A blood-covered student laid motionless outside one of the vehicles, and several injured passengers in both cars groaned in pain.

Chugiak High has a top-notch music department — and it has the hardware to prove it. Chugiak won the Choral, Instrumental and Overall Sweepstakes trophies — the competition’s top honors — at the Heritage Music Festival, which featured 19 schools from six states, in San Francisco on April 13.
