Lillian Crayton, an 18-year-old freshman at the University of Alaska Anchorage, was named the 2013 “Miss Chugiak-Eagle River” on Saturday, Nov. 10 at the Mirror Lake Middle School auditorium. Crayton performed a piano solo of Johann Pachelbel’s “Canon in D” for the talent portion of her performance.

Jacob Campbell, of Eagle River, graduated from the Navy’s Recruit Training Command station in Great Lakes, Ill. at a ceremony held there Aug. 10. Campbell graduated as an E3 Seaman.

The University of Evansville (Evansville, Ind.) recently announced that Kevin Ulrich, of Chugiak, was among the students selected to hold public presentations on their international study, research, and internship experiences as part of UE’s sixth annual International Education Week, observed Nov. 12-16. Ulrich, a graduate of Chugiak High School majoring in Mechanical Engineering, presented “The Summer 2012 Mongolia Data Collection Project” on Nov. 13 in UE’s Ridgway University Center.
Mary Elizabeth Smith, FNP, a provider of family-oriented care has joined Dr. Daniel J. Young at the Center for Natural Medicine, Inc. in Eagle River.
Navy Seaman Mitchell P. Boehlen, a 2012 graduate of Chugiak High, was recently promoted to his current rank upon graduation from recruit training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.
Army Pfc. Joseph M. Van Den Berg, a 2011 graduate of Eagle River High, has graduated from Basic Combat Training at Fort Sill in Lawton, Okla.
Navy Seaman Apprentice Joshua S. Coleman, a 2010 Chugiak High graduate, recently completed U.S. Navy basic training at Recruit Training Command, Great Lakes, Ill.
Air Force Airman 1st Class Zachary T. Warners graduated with honors from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas.
Madeline Alexandra Smith was born on Sept. 24, 2012 at Alaska Regional Hospital in Anchorage. She weighed 5 pounds, 14 ounces and is the daughter of Kari and Robert Smith of Eagle River.
