The Chugiak Volunteer Fire Department rescued a teen from the Thunderbird Falls area early in the evening of March 15. According to CVFD public information officer David Eastman, the department was dispatched to Thunderbird Falls at 5:45 p.m.
A structure fire destroyed a Chugiak home on March 1. The National Census of Domestic Violence Services (Census) reveals that on the single date of Sept. 17, 2013, 18 domestic violence programs in Alaska served 618 victims in a 24-hour period.
Adam Kasgnoc of Anchorage was convicted by an Anchorage jury on Feb. 26 of sexually assaulting his then 20 year old daughter in his Spenard apartment in Anchorage. The jury also found him guilty of incest.
Lagina Griffiths, 41, of Eagle River, was sentenced to four years of jail time for the offense of attempted sexual assault in the second degree. Griffiths pled guilty to this offense on Oct. 28, 2013.
