Anchorage’s Shanon Donley narrowly defeated Eagle River’s Sheryl Loan to win the Arctic Bicycle Club’s 2012 Alaska Bike for Women on Sunday, May 6 on Birchwood Loop in Chugiak.
Izzy Powers, 10, won six events and racked up 137 points en route to a girls 10 and under individual title at the Alaska Swimming Junior Olympic Championships at Bartlett High on April 26-29. Powers helped the Chugiak Aquatics Club to a ninth-place finish with a combined junior team score of 401.5 points. The Knik Swim Club was sixth with 789.5 points.
Brady Sanders scored in the fifth minute to lift Chugiak to a 1-0 win over Eagle River and salvage a season split between the two local sides on Tuesday, May 1 at Tom Huffer Sr. Stadium.
