Majorie M. Rebischke, 88

Longtime Eagle River resident Majorie M. Rebischke died at Ebinezer Care Center in Rosemount, Minn., on Jan. 5, 2014. She was 88. Funeral services were held at Church of St. Joseph in Rosemount, Minn. The burial will be at Resurrection Cemetery in Mendota Heights, Minn.

Leonora Joanne Sheerin, 70

Joanne Sheerin died peacefully at home in Harlingen, Texas, on Dec. 22, 2013. She was 70. Sheerin was born Aug. 1, 1943, in Springfield, Ill. She came to Alaska in 1979 with her husband, John, and their children, Wade and Candice, settling in Chugiak, where they made lifelong friends.

Aline Elizabeth Rusnak, 87

Aline Elizabeth Rusnak died Jan. 1, 2014, at Alaska Regional Hospital in Anchorage. She was 87. A funeral mass was held January 10 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Wasilla with father Scott Garrett officiating. Interment will be at Sacred Heart Cemetery sometime in late spring.

Yoshiko Knueppel, 78

Longtime Eagle River resident Yoshiko Knueppel died Dec. 21, 2013, in Anchorage surrounded by her family. She was 78.

Derick Hermann Kroener, 50

Beloved son, father, brother, grandfather and husband, Derick Hermann Kroener Sr., 50, died unexpectedly Dec. 6, 2013, in Chugiak. He was 50. Funeral services were held Dec. 17 at the Anchorage Moravian Church. Kroener will be laid to rest at the Kanakanak Cemetery in Dillingham in spring 2014.

Carolyn I. Trisdale, 73

Carolyn I. Trisdale died Dec. 13, 2013, at Providence Alaska Medical Center. She was 73. Trisdale was born Dec. 8, 1940. She is survived by her children, Denice O’Shane, of Chugiak, Debra O’Shane, of Show Low, Ariz., and Roy Trisdale Jr., of Show Low, Ariz; sons-in-law, Herbert O’Shane, of Chugiak, and Leslie O’Shane, of Show Low, Ariz.; and granddaughter, Jennifer Baldo, of Show Low, Ariz.

Alva Baker, 81

Longtime Eagle River resident and business owner Alva M. Baker died peacefully with loved ones by her side Nov. 8, 2013. She was 81. Baker was born Jan. 1, 1932, in Quinton, Okla., to Caleb and Mattie Catherine McDonald. She was the youngest of four children.
