Crosstown rivals Chugiak (8-5-1) and Eagle River (3-7-4) will meet for a third time this season in the opening round of the girls Cook Inlet Conference soccer tournament.

Despite dropping a 5-4 game to previous winless East on Monday, May14, Chugiak (4-3) earned the fourth seed in the Cook Inlet Conference baseball playoffs. The Mustangs play either Service or South on Friday, May 18 at 6:30 p.m. at Mulcahy Stadium.

Trevor Woodhouse, of Eagle River, has been awarded a $2,500 National Merit Scholarship. Woodhouse, a senior at Anchorage Christian Schools, was one of 2,500 Merit Scholars chosen from 15,000 finalists for the awards. Woodhouse plans to study engineering in college.
