Stevens leads local runners at Skyview Invite

McPhetres cracks top 10 in boys race

Eagle River High senior Hannah Stevens led all local runners with a fourth-place finish at the Skyview Invitational on Saturday, Aug. 25 in Soldotna.

Stevens ran the hilly 5-kilometer course in 19 minutes even.

Kenai’s Allie Ostrander won the girls race in 17:37, finishing more than a minute ahead of Service’s Jenette Northey in second.

Wasilla won the team title with 63 points. Eagle River (201) finished eighth and Chugiak (209) was 11th as a team.

Eagle River’s Sierra Richardson finished 11th in 19:32. Sam Hartke led Chugiak with a 33rd-place finish.

Kodiak’s Levi Thomet won the boys race in 16:11. With five in the top 15, Service won the boys team title with 46 points. Chugiak finished sixth with 188 points and Eagle River was 14th with 306 points.

Chugiak’s David McPhetres led all local male runners with a ninth-place finish in 16:37.

Eagle River’s Ben Hall (31st) and Chugiak’s Tim Sorensen (39th) cracked the top 40.
