Eagle River, Chugiak boys suffer conference losses

Chugiak’s girls basketball moved into third place in the Cook Inlet Conference with a 53-46 win over East on Wednesday, Feb. 22. With the victory, the Mustangs improved to 8-5 in the conference heading into their final regular season game Friday, Feb. 24 at Bartlett at 6 p.m.

Erinn Scotland paced the Mustangs with 16 points and nine steals. Jessi McMullen (13 points) and Jessica Tramp (11 points) also reached double digits for Chugiak.

A win over Bartlett (4-9 in the CIC) will lock up the No. 3 seed for the Mustangs going into the conference tournament, which starts Wednesday, Feb. 29 at West.

 

Bartlett 44, Eagle River 32

Bartlett handed Eagle River its 13th straight conference loss this season with a 44-32 win Wednesday, Feb. 22.

Sam coy scored a team-high 13 points for the Wolves. Lauren Frost added 10.

Eagle River concludes its regular season at first-place Dimond (13-0 in the CIC) on Friday, Feb. 24 at 6 p.m.

 

BOYS

Bartlett 88, Eagle River 70

Bartlett defeated CIC foe Eagle River 88-70 on Wednesday, Feb. 22. The loss drops the Wolves to 6-7 in the conference heading into their final regular season game at No. 1 Dimond (13-0 in the CIC) on Friday, Feb. 24 at 7:30 p.m.

Chris Parker led Eagle River, which is currently fifth in the conference, with 22 points. Shaquan Rhoades pumped in 16 points and Kelechi Madubuko added 10.

 

East 70, Chugiak 58

East defeated Chugiak 70-58 in a conference matchup Wednesday, Feb. 22. The loss drops the Mustangs to 2-11 in CIC play.

Skyler Fullmer paced Chugiak with 14 points. Marquis Spearman scored 13 and Matt Oldenkamp added 12.

Chugiak finishes its regular season at Bartlett on Friday, Feb. 24 at 7:30 p.m.
