Investigators don't know the cause of a fire that desroyed a home on Klondike Street off of South Birchwood Loop in Chugiak on Saturday, Feb. 25.
According to the Chugiak Volunteer Fire Department, the blaze was reported at approximately 9:40 a.m. When crews arrived four minutes later, they found the house completely engulfed in flames, according to CVFD assistant chief Virginia McMichael.
"On our arrival it was pretty much fully involved," she said.
No one was home at the time of the fire, and there were no injuries. The home's sole occupant, Jayme Bates, 20, said she was visiting the veterarian to get her dog vaccinated when the fire broke out.
"I lost everything," said Bates, who rented the home from her mother, who lives next door.
McMichael said 11 pieces of equipment from Chugiak and a tender from Anchorage Fire Department Station 11 responded to the blaze.
McMichael said the cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
