Eagle River resident Thomas J. Adams, 62, died at home on Jan. 20, 2012.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, Jan. 27 at 6 p.m. at the Eagle River Elks Lodge. His cremated remains will be scattered at his favorite hunting spot in Wisconsin.

Mr. Adams was born March 26, 1949 in Wisconsin. He attended the Trinidad Jr. College in Colorado for gunsmithing. He moved from Tomahawk, Wisc. to Alaska in 1972. He worked for the Alaska Railroad for 32 years, retiring in 2005. He was a member of the Eagle River Elks Lodge. He also enjoyed golf, shooting sports clays, hunting and fishing.

His family said he “died peacefully at home after a brave, year-long battle with brain cancer.”

He is survived by his wife, June Adams, of Eagle River; daughter, Rebecca Vickrey ,of Eagle River; son-in-law, Joe Vickrey, of Eagle River; granddaughter, Joanna Vickrey, of Eagle River; sister, Mary Lokken, of Bayfield, Wis.; brother-in-law, Lee Walton, of Eagle River; and brother-in-law, Orrie Lokken, of Bayfield, Wisc.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Ivy Adams; father, Dr. John Adams; and brother, Don Adams.
