APD makes arrest in Koenig case

Anchorage police said today that they have arrested the owner of an Anchorage construction company in connection with the disappearance of 18-year-old Samantha Koenig.
Police released a statement Thursday, March 15, saying Israel Keyes, 34, had been arrested Tuesday in Lufkin, Texas.
Koenig's wherabouts remain unknown, and details of the charges against Keyes have not been released. APD is calling him a "person of interest."
According to the release, the APD has had two detectives in Texas for several days working on the case. The FBI, Texas Rangers and local authorities in Lufkin, Texas assisted with the arrest. Keyes is being held at a federal facility in Beaumont, Texas.
Koenig disappeared Feb. 1 from the coffee stand where she worked in Midtown Anchorage.
Police are also seeking information from anyone who may have come into contact with Keyes since Jan. 1, or visited his construction company, Keyes Construction, in Anchorage. According to online records, the business is located on Arctic Boulevard in Anchorage. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 1-800-225-5324 OR 1-800-CALL-FBI
