Lammers signs with UAF ski team

Chugiak standout will also run cross country for Nanooks

Chugiak High senior Isaac Lammers has signed a National Letter of Intent to ski and run cross country at the University of Alaska Fairbanks next season.

Lammers, who plans to study mechanical engineering, signed with the Nanooks Tuesday, Nov. 15, 2011 in the Chugiak ski room surrounded by his family and coaches.

"It's gonna be a blast," said Lammers, who will join fellow Chugiak graduates Krysti and Alyson McPhetres on the UAF squad.

Lammers is one of the state's top skiers and runners. Last season he was third in the freestyle race and seventh in the classic at the ASAA Alaska State Nordic Skiing Championships to earn All-State honors. This fall, he finished 11th at the state cross country running meet.
