Chugiak, Eagle River hockey to face off tonight
C-ER girls drop three to Fairbanks on the road
Chugiak High hockey will look for revenge against rival Eagle River tonight as the two square off at the McDonald Center at 7:30.
Last season, the Wolves edged the Mustangs by one goal both times the two played. Eagle River notched its first win over Chugiak in school history with a 3-2 victory Dec. 4, 2010, and completed the season sweep with a 2-1 win Jan. 27.
The Mustangs (1-5 overall) are coming off their first win of the season after beating North Pole 5-2 on Nov. 12. Sophomore Kris Tomazevic led Chugiak with a pair of goals.
Chugiak opened its three-game Fairbanks road trip with a 4-3 loss to West Valley on Nov. 10. Mason Graves scored the game-winning goal for the Wolfpack with 30 seconds left in the third period.
Lathrop blanked Chugiak 4-0 on Nov. 11.
On Saturday, Nov. 19, Chugiak takes on South at 6:45 p.m. at Ben Boeke in Anchorage. The Mustangs host West on Tuesday, Nov. 22 at 7:30 p.m. at the Mac.
Wolves fall to Palmer
Eagle River 2-4-1 fell 5-2 to Palmer on Nov. 15. Carter Jesiel and Addie Platt scored for the Wolves.
Jesiel scored both goals in the Wolves’ 2-2 tie with West on Nov. 9. South shut out Eagle River 2-0 on Saturday, Nov. 12. Eagle River netminder Andrew Shortridge had 35 saves in the loss.
The Wolves host Dimond on Monday, Nov. 21 at 7:30 p.m. at the Mac.
Girls drop three to Fairbanks
The Chugiak-Eagle River girls fell to 1-4 overall after losing three games to Fairbanks. The Arctic Bears cruised to a 7-0 win Nov. 10.
On Nov. 11, it was a different game, as Chugiak-Eagle River lost 3-2 in overtime. Holly Linder and Autumn Sperry scored for CER.
Fairbanks completed the sweep with an 8-2 win Nov. 12. Linder and Chelsea Walljasper scored goals for CER.
Chugiak-Eagle River has a busy week. The girls will take on the Mat-Su Ravens tonight at 5:45 at the Mac. On Saturday, Nov. 19, the team plays South-Bartlett at 5:15 p.m. at Ben Boeke.
CER then hosts Service-East on Monday, Nov. 21 at 5:45 p.m. at the Mac. Dimond-West comes to town Tuesday, Nov. 22 at 5:45 p.m. at the Mac.
