Deployment ceremony planned for JBER troops

A public deployment ceremony for the 4th Brigade Combat Team (Airborne), 25th Infantry Division will be held at Sullivan Arena in Anchorage on Tuesday, Nov. 28 at 10 a.m.
Troops held a dress rehersal on Monday in advance of the ceremony, which all 3,500 members of the brigade will attend.
The brigade — whose nickname is the "Spartans" — are leaving for Afghanistan. It will be their third deployment since being activated in 2005. The brigade served for 15 months in Iraq from October 2006 to December 2007 and in Afghanistan from February 2009 to March 2010.
Scheduled to speak at the ceremony are Alaska Gov. Sean Parnell, Sen. Lisa Murkowski, Sen. Mark Begich, Maj. Gen. Raymond Palumbo and Col. Morris Goins.
