Chugiak swimming/diving splits with East
Chugiak High’s swimming/diving team split with East Anchorage on Friday, Oct. 14. Erin Cockerham (100 breast) and Kaitlyn Friedli (diving) won individual events for Chugiak in the girls’ 110-63 loss to the Thunderbirds. Cockerham was part of Chugiak’s winning 200 medley relay team along with Sammie Burke, Cierra Holtman and Maegan Lange.
With wins in the 50 free and 100 free, Grant Ensign led Chugiak’s boys to an 89-84 win over East. Ethan Espe (200 IM), Jonah Hennings-Booth (100 fly), Andrew Espe (500 free) and Derek Cluff (100 breast) also had first-place finishes for the Mustangs.
Andrew Espe, Ethan Espe, Hennings-Booth and Ensign also earned Chugiak victories as part of its 200 medley relay and 200 free relay teams.
Wolves split with Golden Bears
Eagle River split a swimming/diving dual with Bartlett on Friday, Oct. 14.
With wins in the 200 free and 500 free, Kate Mondl led Eagle River’s girls to a 79-49 win. Courtney Fox-Singh (50 free) and Brenna Wheeler (100 free) also had first-place finishes.
Eagle River’s 200 medley relay (Fox-Singh, Samantha Coy, Sylvia Gates and Rebekah Hunstiger) and 400 free relay (Mondl, Wheeler, Gates and Anna Sorvoja) placed first.
Blaise Fox-Icarro (200 free, 100 breast), Lee Hammermister (500 free) and Evan Wheeler (100 back) had individual wins in the boys’ 73-46 loss.
