Start National Protect Your Identity Week with free document shredding, cell phone recycling and financial education workshops at Better Business Bureau’s Secure Your ID Day. For the first time ever, BBB is partnering with local community organizations—including United Way of Anchorage and Cook Inlet Lending Center—to stage Secure Your ID Day in conjunction with the second annual Financial Fitness Fair.

Shred Alaska will be shredding documents. Drive up and drop off up to three bags or boxes of documents per person to watch them be securely destroyed onsite. (No cardboard or three-ring binders.)
Verizon’s HopeLine will be recycling old cell phones, which will be wiped and donated to domestic violence victims.
Several local financial institutions and community organizations will be available to provide free workshops, credit checks, budgeting and credit counseling.
There will also be family entertainment, door prizes and snacks.
