Eagle River wrestler third at North/South

After losing a 5-4 decision to Ketchikan’s Isaac Lontz earlier, Eagle River High freshman Gavin Arnold edged Lontz 2-1 to claim third place at 132 pounds at the North/South Wrestling Tournament at Soldotna on Saturday, Dec. 1.

The Wolves finished 11th out of 12 teams with 17 points. Wasilla won the team title with 210 points over South in second with 192.

 

South 57, Chugiak 21

Three Mustangs earned pinfalls in Chugiak’s 57-21 loss to visiting South on Nov. 28.

Chase Jury (132 pounds), Alex Medeiros (182) and Richard Burroughs (220) all pinned their opponents for Chugiak.

Robert Huffer (152) won 7-1 and Wyatt Allen won by forfeit at 285 pounds.

 

Eagle River 44, Dimond 36

Five Wolves pinned their opponent in Eagle River’s 44-36 win over Dimond on Nov. 28.

Conner Octeau (120), Zach Luff (126), Xavier Horton (152), Jimmy Stemper (160) and Christian Navarro (220) earned pins for Eagle River.

At 138 pounds, Gavin Arnold won by technical fall; Cory Florence (145) earned a 10-1 major decision victory; and Justin Toth (106) won by forfeit for the Wolves. Prior to the match, Florence and Luff were honored for senior night.
