“Movie theater to open here”
From the Knik Arm Courier, November 1970:
A movie theater with a seating capacity of 300 is scheduled to be opened by Jan. 1, 1971, according to Robert Thomas, of Eagle River.
Thomas is presently constructing the theater at the corner of Eagle River Road and the Eagle River Loop.
Thomas said that they have overcome the difficulties, which forced them to cancel plans to open a theater several years ago, and now are approved to show Walt Disney films as well as movies from several other major studios.
Thomas said that the emphasis will be on family type movies. Initial plans call for showing movies on Friday nights, Saturday nights and Saturday and Sunday matinees. The Saturday matinee will be a kiddy show, complete with cartoons.
