“Theater opening is delayed”

Published:

From the Knik Arm Courier, December 1970:

The opening of the Eagle River Theater, which was scheduled for January 2, will be delayed due to non-arrival of chairs.

Robert Thomas, operator of the theater, stated that all the equipment is ready and the building is completed, but that if they were to open on schedule, it would be “standing room only.”

Thomas stated that he hoped to open the theater on January 15. The theater, which is located at Eagle River Road and Eagle River Loop, will feature four separate films each week.

The Friday night film will be one designed to appeal to young adults. Saturday afternoon will be a kiddy show, complete with cartoons. The film to be shown on Saturday nights will be the type that adult audience will enjoy, but at the same time, suitable for general viewing.

The Sunday afternoon show will be one for the entire family, and Thomas plans to select movies that are enjoyable by young and old alike.
