Chugiak’s Lammers takes second place at Lynx Loppet ski race

Eagle River was swept during a quad meet with Bartlett, West and South at Bartlett High on Dec. 11.

The Golden Bears won 55-30; South earned a 67-12 victory and West cruised to a 71-8 win.

Xavier Horton led the Wolves with two pinfall victories.

 

Skiing

Lammers second overall

Chugiak High’s Sarissa Lammers skied to a second-place finish at the Lynx Loppet race Friday and Saturday, Dec. 13-14 at Kincaid Park. Lammers was about 29 seconds behind Service’s Taryn Hunt-Smith, who finished in 31 minutes, 36.9 seconds.

Hannah Booher (25th) and Annie Connely (29th) cracked the top 30 to help Chugiak’s girls finish fifth as a team. South swept both team titles.

Summer Frazier’s 47th-place finish led Eagle River.

Chugiak’s Roan Hall led all local boys in 18th place. The Mustangs finished 10th as a team, and Eagle River was 15th. Jacob Walsh (62nd) led the Wolves.

East’s Thomas O’Harra won the boys race in 34:30.9.

 

Girls hockey

CER earns shutout

Arika Mercer stopped 11 shots to earn a shutout in Chugiak-Eagle River’s 6-0 win over the Service-East/South-Bartlett junior varsity team Dec. 11 at the Subway Sports Centre.

Kirsten Watts netted a hat trick, Jade Pandres scored a pair and Daylie Hislop added one goal for CER.
