Faye Eileen Erwin, 78, died Dec. 14, 2012 at her daughter’s home in Peters Creek.

A service will be held Friday, Dec. 28 at Evergreens Eagle River Funeral Home, 11046 Chugiak Drive in Eagle River. Immediately following there will be a gathering of family and friends at the home of Dave and Sue Walker in Peters Creek. Burial will take place in late spring 2013 at Fort Richardson National Cemetery. Faye will be laid to rest with her husband of over 60 years, Charles, who preceded her in death.

Mrs. Erwin was born Feb. 1, 1934 in Cadillac, Mich. to John and Lillian Samenski. She graduated from Cadillac High School in 1952 and married Charles Erwin on March 22, 1952 in Cadillac.

She was a military wife and the Air Force brought her, along with her husband and five children, to Alaska in 1970. She moved back to Cadillac in 1991, but returned to Alaska in 2009 to be near her family. She enjoyed family gatherings and camping trips, homemaking and collecting mice figurines. She loved her dog, Maxi. In her quiet time, she enjoyed watching the soaps, reading, and doing crossword puzzles.

“Faye’s kind heart made her an angel on earth and she will be missed by all those who knew her,” her family wrote.

She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Dusty and Dianna Erwin of Wasilla; son and daughter-in-law, James and Sandra Erwin of Wasilla; daughter and son-in-law, Sue and Dave Walker of Peters Creek; daughter and son-in-law, Cindy and Donnie Cunningham of Kennewick, Wash.; son, John Erwin of Wasilla; sisters, Dorothy Leineke and Jeri Dean, both of Cadillac; and four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren who all live in Alaska.
