Bookout shines at Lady Lynx Prep Shootout

Eagle River boys notch win over Seward

GIRLS

Ketchikan 56, Chugiak 50

Chugiak fell 56-50 in the third-place game of the Lady Lynx Prep Shootout on Saturday, Feb. 8 at Dimond.

Brandy Bookout led the Mustangs with 14 points and reached double digits for the fourth straight game. Nicole Pinckney (13 points) and Ashlynn Burgess (11) also reached double figures for Chugiak.

West edged Dimond 49-47 to win the championship.

 

West 50, Chugiak 44

West High edged Chugiak 50-44 on Friday, Feb. 7 at Dimond’s Prep Shootout. Bookout scored 14 points and Pinckney added 13. Burgess grabbed 13 rebounds for the Mustangs.

 

Seward 38, Eagle River 15

Seward downed visiting Eagle River 38-15 in the Seward Seahawk Classic on Friday, Feb. 7.

East High won the girls title the following day.

 

Chugiak 57, Soldotna 54, OT

The Mustangs outscored Soldotna 10-7 in overtime to win 57-54 at Dimond’s Prep Shootout on Thursday, Feb. 6.

Burgess led Chugiak with a double-double (14 points, 10 rebounds). Bookout scored a game-high 19 points.

 

Chugiak 48, Juneau 32

Chugiak opened the Lady Lynx Prep Shootout at Dimond with a 48-32 win over Juneau-Douglas on Feb. 5. Pinckney paced the Mustangs with 19 points. Bookout scored 16 and grabbed nine rebounds.

 

BOYS

Klawock 73, Eagle River 55

Thomas Jones and Collin Metzel combined for 35 points in Eagle River’s 73-55 loss to Klawock on Saturday, Feb. 8 at the Seward Seahawk Classic. Jones scored a team-high 18 points.

 

Eagle River 67, Seward 62

Eagle River had three players in double digits in its 67-62 win over Seward at the Seward Seahawk Classic on Friday, Feb. 7. Klawock won the boys title.

Eric Anderson paced the Wolves with 18 points. Jones and Alani Collins added 12 apiece for Eagle River.
