Stolen bottle doesn’t last long
Anchorage police said they cited and released a 33-year-old Anchorage woman the afternoon of Dec. 22 after she stole a bottle of Smirnoff Vanilla Vodka from the Eagle River Liquor Store. Cynthia Hardcastle later admitted the theft, which was reported at 1:30 p.m., police spokesman Lt. David Parker said. Hardcastle told police the bottle broke after she took it.
Speeding teen busted for holiday DUI
Anchorage police said they arrested Kwintin Williams, 18, of Anchorage for driving under the influence early on Christmas morning after stopping him for speeding on the Glenn Highway.
Williams reached speeds of 120 mph, according to police spokesman Lt. David Parker. The arresting officer smelled a “strong odor of marijuana” coming from the vehicle during the stop, Parker said. Williams admitted to smoking about 30 minutes before.
Williams’ breath-alcohol level was below the legal limit but he performed very poorly on field sobriety tests, Parker said. He was taken to Anchorage Jail on $250 bail.
Charges are merely accusations; defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty at trial or until a plea of guilty is accepted by the courts.
